One of my coaches taught me – you are the product of the 5 people you spend most of your time with. That statement caused me to stop and think and it makes so much sense to me.
Who are the 5 people you surround yourself with? Do they nurture you, love you, support you or do they drain you?
As I grew and evolved over the years, I had to change my circle of friends. Life circumstances can change that inner circle for us. When I was setting boundaries for myself, I had to make some changes. Some of my friends and relatives were toxic. I didn’t want to hurt their feelings or have them feel negative toward me so I tolerated their abusive behavior until I got strong and started taking better care of myself. It took time, and I was eventually able to remove myself from those relationships.
I don’t believe we can expect one important person in our lives to be everything to us. I think now, of the type of support I need and who can provide it for me.
I thrive in a romantic relationship where I am loved and respected just for being me and where I can feel like a woman and have someone who appreciates when I reciprocate love. It’s important to have someone to share my hopes and dreams, successes, fears and failures – without judgement. His name is Hub.
On a professional level, I am part of a dream team of brilliant women and together we are building a new corporate culture. We all contribute something unique to this project, we all speak the same language when it comes to corporate culture and we are there for each other. I am inspired by these women and I learn something new every time we are together. They are Christine, Grace, Allison and Lucie-Marie.
To execute my business beyond my own expertise and personal capacity is an amazing team. They fill my blind spots and help me to be successful. I can not do what I do without them. This incredible team consists of Della, Yolanda, Whitney, Lindsey & Kelsey. They challenge me and help me to grow personally and professionally.
To advance my business, I require expertise beyond my own in the areas of business growth, marketing, graphic design, speaker development, writing development and others. I have a business coach and group of like minded professional women entrepreneurs – we are all part of a mastermind group – learning, sharing and supporting together. They are Pat and The Moguls Mastermind Group.
For my fitness goals to keep healthy, fit and most importantly – to have the stamina and energy I need to maintain my schedule, I work with Victoria – a brilliant and extremely knowledgeable personal trainer.
To just talk about life and family and feel connected – I am blessed with my 3 kids, 3 grandkids and 4 step kids. I have a different relationship with each of them and unique areas of interest that we enjoy. I know that any one of them would be there for me if I needed them and they have shown that to me many times.
Since I battled self worth for many years – I had to learn to believe in myself and trust that those closest to me won’t abandon or betray me. I worked with an outstanding psychologist who helped me understand what happened, why and how to deal with issues if they arise in the future. Her name is Mary.
My inner circle is both personal and professional and I am grateful for what they all bring to my life.
